
Bianca Juliette O’Neill was born, bred and still lives in Pretoria, South Africa. She studied Drama (Hons) at the University of Pretoria and currently studying PHD in Education at the Tshwane University of Technology. Bianca was involved in several productions in terms of theatre and film whilst studying at the University of Pretoria. A lecturer of Foundation Phase teachers and a producer/writer and actress in the industry. Having taken several courses on script writing with regards to live action and animation over the years to harness her craft in addition encourages her students to explore and enhance their creativity and innovation in their teaching.
She has written and co-written several films through the years and was also a writer and researcher for a season of a children’s series called Rivoningo. A writer in the short animation films such as Yellow Daisy Butterfly (2024), which has gone on to win several awards film festivals all around the world (including being a finalist at the 2020 WGSA MUSE AWARDS for screenplay short animation) and wrote the short animation film currently in production, Crimson (2026). There have been co-written projects such as live action feature film Breath Easy (2017) and live action short film, Jacob and the Stolen Tooth (2016) (in addition to being director). She was also co-writer, co-creator and co-producer of a YouTube skit comedy series Sketch-A-Month (2018) and as well as for an educational physical education video, The Adventures of The Gross Motor Skills (2013).
There have also been several films she has produced /co-produced live action short films such as A-Minor (2012), The Jewel of Is (2013), Nigh (2013) and as well as experimental live action feature, Tera (2014). Over the years, she has explored various themes, mediums and genres with regards to film and television and continues this exploration. She considers her films as a visual medium of her diary journal.
