
Diek Grobler was raised on a farm in the Limpopo province of South Africa. He is a visual artist working in various disciplines. Apart from exhibiting as a fine artist, he has illustrated various children’s books, worked with performance and avant garde theatre and has directed and produced 20+ short animated films. His films have travelled extensively on the international festival circuit over the past two decades, and have collectively been included in the official programming of more than 140 international animation festivals. He has received many awards internationally, and locally a SAFTA nomination and a SAFTA award for short form animation.
Grobler’s paintings are included in several major public and corporate collections in South Africa, and many private collections here and abroad. He has presented 25 solo exhibition over the course of a 35 year career, and participated extensively in group exhibitions on a national and international level.
